Who We Are
Urban Youth Initiative was established in 2014 - providing exceptional enrichment and leadership development opportunities to youth in the greater New York City area. We offer youth the opportunity to create and mold their own unique experiences through our wide range of educational services. We see the true power that our youth hold, and we have made it our mission to transform them into natural born leaders, ready to take on the world.
The Urban Youth Initiative's formation mission as a registered 501(c)(3) organization, was centered on a commitment to the educational enrichment and empowerment of elementary and secondary school-aged youth by way of our substantive instructional support to families and schools. Our scope has since expanded to include young persons, adults and children alike, residing in communities designated by the New York State Education Department as Title I and/or Title III school districts. This distinction is important due to the fact that an encroaching goal for the UYI has been to tie together our related pedagogic services with the robust social emotional offerings we have been cultivating for the past few years, and provide them to our Partner-Schools as well as to the community.
The UYI believes in using holistic measures to reach the communities outlined in our Vision of Purpose. These measures include our in-school extra-curricular activities and interscholastic competitive sporting initiative via our Erudite Olympiad program and Eruditus Academia, which is our targeted academic supports initiative, specifically in the area of special education services. Our UYI of the Bronx program continues to provide outreach support to young adults via a variety of instructional and social services, not limited to our adult education initiative.
As much as we are able and willing to do as an organization, our work cannot be truly realized without the generous donations and gifts from other foundations, organizations, and members of the public. The Urban Youth Initiative is grateful to those who are able to support. If you would like to explore ways to help, please click on the link below.

Look At What We're Doing
Headquartered inside the Banknote Building, nestled within the heart of the South Bronx, the Urban Youth Leadership and Enrichment Initiative [UYI] has committed itself to being fully engrossed with, and apart of, the community it strives to support. For many years, we have been making a difference in the lives of youth in the greater New York City area, and we take pride in everything we do. In addition to our robust youth intiatives, the UYI is expanding its reach to prepare young adults to pass their TASC examinations and earn their HSE through our Pre-HSE, HSE, and ESL/ENL programs. A Celebration of Our Youth
June 25, 2022
The Urban Youth Initiative and the Bronx Colts Youth Foundation has teamed up to revamp Bronx-centric sports programing via our Bronx Youth Alliance partnership.
The partnership is making it a priority to inspire teens and kids and teach them the importance of choosing peace over violence, especially after the increase of gun violence that’s been seen citywide. The partnership was also formed as many youths are getting their hands on guns or falling victim to gun violence in their own neighborhood.
